Book Reviews

Hey all!  Sorry, I've book slacking on the book reviews lately!  I'm working on a top secret project.  Rest assure, I’m still reading!  I'm nearly finished with The 5000 Year Leap!  It’s a tough read, but is full of great wisdom directly from the mouths of our founders!

Be well, fellow patriots!

Your thoughts on this?

While I found this segment of the show lacking in substance and wasting a few minutes of my precious life (I heard it live), Beck was not attacking Obama's daughter. He was merely mimicking her because Obama constantly uses his family to appeal to the public.

The man living next to Palin is there to 'observe' the family for his writing...Quite different.

Right, like when Palin said it was OK for Rush to say the word "retard" but Seth McFarlane can't make a satirical reference to a child she doesn't have. Like that?

I have no idea what you are talking about in terms of family guy references. I myself take some offense to the word being used in the pure contect of describing someone because I have a brain injury. However, Palin shouldn't be attacking a tv show for using that word comically, if she did.

I don't stand with any one political party. Don't assume I'm a raving Palin fan.

By the way, you changed the issue you first commented about. Beck's comment lacked taste and tack and he actually issued an apology for it, but how would you feel if a man moved next door to you for the purpose of watching you and your family constantly, such as in Palin's case? Do you have a family? Do you ever want privacy in your own life?

I'm talking about double-standards. It's generally accepted by everyone except Palin and Beck that McGinniss isn't doing anything illegal or even anything journalistic-ally immoral. And the assumption of privacy goes out the window when you choose to be a public figure like Palin has.

But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how Beck can say one minute "Leave the families alone" in reference to Palin and the next directly mock Obama's kids. It's the same thing as the Family Guy controversy (http://thinkprogress.org/2010/02/16/palin-family-guy/) from a while back.

Oh, and Obama constantly uses his family to appeal to the public? I think Palin perfected that one first.

I know exactly who I'm talking to by the way... Go read some history instead of arguing about the human ability to make mistakes. Both of us could argue about mistakes that individual politicians/media personalities make, but it's the people who can actually cop to their mistakes that I respect.

Go read a bookand you'l be welcome on the blog. But you've simply found a new way to argue with me about things that really don't matter.

Here's an idea for you... Read this transcript between Beck and Palin from last week's interview on Beck's radio program and tell me again that they think Joe McGinniss doesn't have a right to live where he chooses.

Good luck

"Go read some history instead of arguing about the human ability to make mistakes."

You mean revisionist, conservative history, right? No thanks.

That's almost laughable, considering your version of 'true history' is probably based on the early twentienth century revisionist history that began under Woodrow Wilson.
